Default Do I need all the expansions for skills?

Just bought and installed Guild Wars and Eye of the North came together in a boxed set. Was wondering do I need the other two games,(Factions,Nightfall) to access more skills and features?

Yes. To get ALL the skills, you need all the expansions and campaigns. For example, without having Factions, you cannot get the factions only skill Broad head arrow. Even if you use a signet of capture on a boss using the skill in another campaign, the skill will be greyed out.

Look up the skill on wiki and see if it's prophecies, factions, nightfall, eye of the north or a core skill. Core skills are available from any campaign.

Not just skills, but the 'features' you mentioned as well. Skills are the biggest, but Classes are a close second (Assassin, Ritualist, Dervish, and Paragon), armor, weapons (which can be acquired through trades though), heroes (from Nightfall), PvP venues (Alliance Battles, Jade Quarry, and Fort Aspenwood are all exclusive to Factions), and of course the story and quests/missions.

Thanks. Perhaps another way of asking is. Right now I only have Prophecies and playing PVE.

Are skills introduced from other campaigns available in the Prophecies campaign?

If so playing the Prophecies campaign exclusively without Factions & Nightfall would my characters essentially be nerfed for the duration of the campaign? (ie lack of additional skills)

As you only have 1 campaign and the only expansion
you will only unlock any skills for the relavant campaign and Eye ofthe North

PVE skills. I would advise to have a look at the Campfire section on the professions you can create.

You will obtain quests ect to unlock the skills in question and they are free.

As was quoted if you created say a ranger.and you wished a specific build that the skill belonged to any of the other 2 campaigns Factions/Nightfall
for the Ranger you will not be able to obtain them.

My advice is play a little on what you have then buy the other 2 campaigns at a later date if your enjoying the game.

BTW Welcome to Guild Wars and enjoy the game

No, they are not "available". (The skills from other campaigns can be used in any campaign if you have them, though.)

Of course not. Each campaign was designed as a stand-alone game and the later campaigns and EotN didn't even exist at first. So the campaigns are fully playable with just the skills available within them.

You would, of course, have a stronger character if/when it is equipped with the best skills from each campaign, especially the PvE-only skills from Eye of the North, but I wouldn't say that your character is "nerfed" without them.

That's PvE-wise though. If you want to be successful in PvP, you would want access to all skills.
